Margaret married 1 William Felix DUNBAR on 29 Jan 1864 in New York, New York Co., New York. William was born on 19 Nov 1840 in Williamsburg, Kings Co., New York. He died on 23 Sep 1877 in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., California. He was buried in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., California.
BIRTH: Records left by daughter Ethel are not completely legible as to the state or county of birth. It shows something like "Williams Burgh, LI". His death record shows birth as New York, the 1900 census for daughter Ethel E. shows Scotland, and the 1900 census for son William A. shows New York. This would seem to indicate the borough of Williamsburg in Kings Co. on Long Island, New York is where he was born. As far as his parents, the 1850 Census lists John (age 40, born Ireland) and Rebecca (age 30 born Ireland) Dunbar with a 10 year old William in Williamsburg, Kings Co., New York. I can't find them anywhere else, and have no other proof that they are his parents except that William F. named two of his children John and Rebecca.
BIOGRAPHY: He appears several times in California voter rolls. (1) "84849 William Felix Dunbar, 28, New York, Mason, resides Hyde b Green & Val, ward 2, regist'd May 8 1869" (2) "9582 William Felix Dunbar, 32, New York, Mason, resides Santa Rosa, regist'd Sep 1 1873". The San Franscisco address above is the same as his father-in-law, Samuel Hollister and bro-in-law John Jacob Hollister: Hyde street between Green St. and Vallejo St.
DEATH: Sonoma Co., California death record: 27 September 1877, book 41 page 27, #996
"age 37, nativity NY, Typhoid Fever, Reported by F. M. Demmick".
